A River Dies of Thirst
— Mahmud Darwish

Why has the world not stopped? Why are we still breathing? How is the river flowing? The waves still crashing? My heart stops million times a day. As a mother, everytime I hear Amma I come back alive - but what about you my sisters in Palestine? My son going to sleep with his hippo and waking up with it. My Allah Hafiz’s aren’t final. I have privilidge of saying Allah Hafiz, I get to hold you in full. Your limbs, heart, eyes, hair intact.

I am sorry my people for I don’t know what to do
